This may include, but is not limited to, name and address, Social Security or taxpayer identification number, and personal financial information such as assets and liabilities, income, investment activity and transactions, etc. We may collect this information from:
- Tax returns and other forms provided to us;
- Information about transactions with us or our affiliates;
- Formal and informal discussions with clients; and/or
- Other sources with client consent or with the consent of a clients representative (for example, from a prior accountant or attorney if a client engages us for tax or financial planning services, or a clients financial institution(s) if the client transfers assets to Palisades Hudson Asset Management, L.P.).
We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our clients or former clients, except as permitted by law. This may include sharing information with our affiliates or non-affiliated third parties in order to process a transaction or to perform services on our clients behalf as they request, to assist us in responding to client inquiries, and/or to comply with legal requirements. This may also include sharing a client's email address with non-affiliated third parties that provide us with services, such as printing, mailing, and electronic mailing, that we use for marketing and communications purposes. These non-affiliated third parties are required by contract to maintain the confidentiality of clients information and to use it solely for the purposes for which it is disclosed.
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information to authorized employees who require such information to conduct our business and provide services to clients. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard nonpublic information.
