Melinda Beckmann and Matthew Slen joined our team of client service associates in July and June, respectively, and Eliza Snelling started in May as an administrative associate.
A former Palisades Hudson intern in Fort Lauderdale, where she now works full time, Melinda graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester this spring. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and statistics, as well as a Certificate in Management, focused in accounting and finance. She received a Citation of High Achievement in Statistics and a Citation of Special Achievement in Economics.
Melinda, 21, spent two years as a teaching assistant for the University of Rochester statistics department and was an active member of the university’s athletic community. A member of the varsity tennis team all four years, she was selected as team captain during her senior year. In recognition of her dual commitment to academics and athletics, Melinda was named a University Athletic Association Scholar Athlete and an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete.
A native of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Melinda has embraced her new home in Florida by joining Emerge Broward, a leadership, development and community service program aimed at uniting young professionals in the Broward County area.
Melinda has worked across various disciplines, including investment, taxes and accounting. She currently serves as our firm’s U.S. large-cap investment analyst and as co-analyst for international funds.
Matt, a native of Stamford, Conn., started his career at Palisades Hudson as an intern in our Scarsdale office during the summer of 2008. This spring, he graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics and economics. He was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon, The International Honor Society in Economics. Matt’s academic interests extended well beyond the limits of his major, and in 2009, he received the Award for Excellence in the Study of Hebrew.
Matt, 22, combined his work in economics and his interest in Hebrew studies by participating in an eight-week internship program in Tel Aviv, Israel, through Bank Hapoalim, the largest bank in that country. Matt worked as a global market intern at one of Bank Hapoalim’s subsidiaries, Peilim, a portfolio management company, where he prepared monthly statements and updated client accounts, equity holdings, security benchmarks and databases.
Throughout college, Matt was an active member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He served as vice president, community service chair and social chair. He was also a member of the club-level Ultimate Frisbee team and of two intramural soccer teams.
Since joining Palisades Hudson, Matt has been involved in many aspects of the business, learning about the wide range of services the company provides to its clients. He currently serves as the real estate analyst and a fixed-income co-analyst for the firm’s investment committee.
