Shomari D. Hearn, CFP®, EA

Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

Shomari D. Hearn, CFP®, EA, became Palisades Hudson’s first-ever executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2023. Though based in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Florida headquarters, his client service and firmwide responsibilities regularly take him across the United States and abroad.

As EVP and COO, Shomari holds executive responsibility for all of the firm’s operations and for strategic initiatives such as the Entertainment and Sports Team, which he oversees along with Vice President Eric Meermann. Shomari also continues to provide a wide range of services to our clients, including asset allocation programs, investment analyses, cash flow projections, retirement plans, tax strategies, income tax planning and compliance, accounting and estate administration.

Shomari established the firm’s first branch office in Fort Lauderdale in 2005, but he began his Palisades Hudson career in New York. He joined the staff as an associate in 1998 and became a client service manager in 2003. Shomari joined the executive team as a vice president in 2012, and in 2017 he became the firm’s first managing vice president. He was a longstanding member of the firm’s investment committee and also formerly served as the Chief Compliance Officer for the firm’s investment advisor affiliate, Palisades Hudson Asset Management, L.P.

Since moving to Florida two decades ago, Shomari has become an integral part of the city’s business community. He is active in the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, where he previously served on the Small Business Committee and the committee for the Chamber and the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Business First Initiative. Shomari is a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Fort Lauderdale program (Class XIII), and served as the curriculum chair for the program’s Class XVII.

He has also appeared as a recurring guest on Palisades Hudson's own podcast, "Something Personal."

Shomari has also become an active voice in the sports and entertainment community. He has advised the founders of The Show Must Be Paused, an organization focused on the music industry that grew out of the activism for racial justice that captured national attention in the summer of 2020. In 2022, he was a featured panelist at “Unpacking Name, Image & Likeness (NIL).” The event, presented by the law firm Lawson McKinley and the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance, was designed to help agents, athletic directors and attorneys to fully understand the new rules governing NIL deals for student athletes. In 2023, Shomari delivered a financial literacy presentation to the University of Georgia’s women’s basketball team. He is a member of Diverse Representation, an organization aimed at increasing the visibility of African American professionals working in the sports and entertainment industries other than as athletes or entertainers.

A New York City native, Shomari is a 1997 graduate of Duke University, where he obtained a B.A. in economics and a certificate in markets and management study.
